About HYPER scales

This open-source project is inspired by, and in some ways an extension of the research carried out as part of the State of the Fossil Fuel Internet report.

How to use this website

Pick a datacenter from the dropdown and optionally enter a location. The map draws the datacenter's land footprint, such as the site boundary area, over that location at true size, so you can compare it with somewhere you know.

Licensing

Leaflet: map library, BSD-2-Clause licence.
Nominatim: place search, using OpenStreetMap data under the public usage policy.
Datacenter information: see the source given in each popup.

Privacy

No cookies or analytics. Location text you search for is sent to Nominatim to process and return a result. Your device location is used only if you choose “Use my location”. It is not sent anywhere else.
